Fifteen years later

Posted in Photoblog on 2009-04-30 02:31:00 by Rob Porter.

I first took this picture over 15 years ago.

I have since misplaced it, likely in a storage box somewhere in my parents' basement. The picture to the right was "re-" taken in October of 2008.

In 1993, digital cameras were still long away from being popular, and a person really had to choose what they took pictures of carefully, because there was only so much film.

Out of all the pictures I took, this one stood out in my memory best, so dominantly that one day when I had the chance to go whereever I could within a day of Calgary, Lake Louise became the place to go.

I can imagine that many, many people have taken the picture. It would be hard not to, if you're ever there.

Just be sure to go hiking there. The trails are amazing. (Although, if you're not used to high-altitude hiking -- be prepared to be stopping every few minutes with leg pains until about a half-hour in. No, you're not weak, your body is just reacting to thinner air and needs a bit of time to adapt. It took me about a half hour.)
