It has been a very busy month, recovering, moving, catching up on work and all that. But the time has come again to continute contributing to this site, and hopefully getting some new contributors!
Yosemite is a beautiful National Park in California -- most people are aware of it, of course. I would suspect many do not know how big it actually is.. there are a few states I'm sure are smaller than this park. It has some villages within it, mostly for the vistors though, I can't imagine anyone but employees of the park are allow to permanently reside there.
There were countless opportunities for photos, however due to unfortunate cicumstances, we only had the chance to just drive though Yosemite, with minimal stops. Certainly returning to this place will happen sooner than later.
These falls are visible from the main Yosemite Village, a bit of a tourist hub of the park. While I tend to shy away from the most touristy of spots, it's unavoidable when you need to find food and rest in the middle of such a huge park. Driving through Yosemite is not for the unattentive -- roads are so windy you may spend more time on a curve than driving in a straight line, and the roads are also quite narrow.
I can't recall how long it took to drive through, it was certainly a few hours though, and that was only about a third of the park. If we had gone north instead of south, it would have likely been twice as long.
At a later time I'll add some pictures of the giant sequoias found in Yosemite. We only had the chance to see those visible from the parking lot -- which makes it again another place to return to soon -- but even from there you can get a good sense of how big these trees get.
Looking forward to future posts!
