Circles on the stone

Written by

This strange rock was found on the secluded beach at Black Creek Provincial Park, right next to the quiet community of Old Woman's River on the Bruce Penninsula.

It appears someone has dug this up in some way -- what is curious, though, are the circles. Are these from a special process of formation of the rock? Some unusually symmetrical erosion?

It looks not unlike a tortoise's patterns. Some day I'll have to do some research on this.
