An Eco-Learning Center
Today, the LUNA Project consists of two yurts – one where David lives and one that he uses as a classroom. The project explores the ways in which each individual affects the environment around them in their daily life. Food, water, waste, and energy – all aspects of daily consumption and living are considered.
As an example of off-grid housing, the location utilizes solar and wind power, a composting toilet, rainwater catchments, and a high-efficiency wood stove for heating in the winter. Since its inception, curious and like-minded people have taken one of the many tours that David runs throughout the year.
Lunatic Adventures
In addition to the LUNA Project, David also manages Lunatic Adventures, a wilderness guiding company. When we first met David, he was seeking to expand his web site to better represent everything the LUNA Project and Lunatic Adventures were about: living with a conscious awareness and respect of nature.
Site Development: Joomla!™ 1.5
For the LUNA Project and Lunatic Adventures, we chose the Joomla!™ Content Management System for its versatility and usability. In addition to standard content management, Joomla!™ delivers on important events calendaring with online registration.
Joomla!™ extensions EventList and Chronoforms work together to ease of the management of multiple wilderness trips, open houses, courses, and registration for events.
Also, in keeping with the endeavour to reduce environmental impact everywhere possible, David’s web site has migrated to our new Wind Powered Web Hosting.
As we work with David’s LUNA Project and Lunatic Adventures, we advocate for the continued entrepreneurship in sustainable and environmentally sound business. At CartaNova, we want not only want to see David and his projects survive – we want them to thrive and inspire more similar projects everywhere.
