Insects and asters: a bumblebee

Upon a recent stay in the Bruce Penninsula, I had a chance to get many pictures of numerous pollenators on a variety of aster flowers.

The cold weather that week made these insects slow -- this bumblebee, for example, was almost asleep on this flower. It didn't leave the flower for a whole hour.

I have some more photos of other bees and flies on related wildflower species, and will post them up over the next few weeks.
