Red River Flower

Written by

Earlier this month I spent a weekend in Winnipeg, and on the last day I finally got to take a short hike, along the Red River.

In getting back into taking more photos I'm noticing how great many of the photos I get out of my point-and-shoot are. I'm better appreciating the portability of such a camera, versus more advanced cameras that can't be fit into your pocket very well.

I snapped a few pictures of these flowers -- not sure what they are but I will return to them and identify them in a future post.

The river path was nice, although it was evident that people do live along the river bank in tents during the summer. Winnipeg has considerable numbers of homeless -- which is not surprising considering it is the only city in the whole province.

Overall a nice hiking experience -- windy, sunny, and moderate in temperature. There are plenty of trails alongside the river on both sides, making it one of the few major cities with naturalized hiking trails in the downtown.

Most photos are taken with my "point-and-shoot" Canon Powershot, and a few of the newer ones are taken with an iPhone4. Some photos in the "articles" are not mine, where this is the case credit is given in caption.
