The Corals of Rock Point

Written by

This HDR pic was taken in October 2010 at Rock Point Provincial Park. The beach there, at the aptly named "Rock Point" is a rocky beach with numerous corals.

At this beach it's near impossible to walk around and not step on numerous corals. They are very well exposed, and not as fragile as they may appear.

Slightly disconcerting is the presence of millions of zebra mussels' shells littering the beach (an invasive species), and dozens of decayed fish washed ashore.

It is a nice park for hiking -- a very lengthy regional trail passes through here, though the name of that trail currently escapes me. There is also a sandy beach, and although it was October and about 16° C, there we many people that day taking advantage of the sun.
