The Singing Sands at Sunset

The Singing Sands at Sunset The Singing Sands at Sunset R G Porter

This is another HDR image shot with an iPhone 4, at the Singing Sands, part of the Bruce Peninsula National Park near Tobermory, Ontario.

With a slight bit of adjustments in iPhoto, it looks almost like a scene off of Mars -- red sand, almost barren. The sands there are not truly red, just the sunset makes them appear so.

It's a neat beach to go to -- the shallows run out almost a mile before you get hip-deep in water. On hot days, the winds blowing in stir up steam due to shore being extremely flat and shallow. The steam is visible, to the unsuspecting it might seem like sand blowing in across the lake, but of course sand does not travel in the air very well when it is wet.

The remote sandy beach is rarely overcrowded, is a nice alternative to Sauble Beach if you happen to drive far up the peninsula.
